When Is the Last Public Holiday of 2022 in the UAE?

The UAE's last public holiday of 2022 is on December 2nd and 3rd. This is the National Day of the UAE.

After the long weekend holiday (Commemoration Day is held on November 30), there will be no more public holidays in 2022.

What Are the Public Holidays in the UAE to Look Forward to in 2023?

The UAE has several public holidays celebrated by the country's citizens. Some of the most popular public holidays in the UAE include New Year's Day, Eid Al-Fitr, and Eid Al-Adha.

New Year's Day

The UAE celebrates the New Year as a public day off every January 1. However, in 2023, this day falls on a Sunday. The first working day of 2023 will therefore start on January 2.

Eid Al Fitr

After the celebration of the Holy Month of Ramadan is the first Eid Holiday - Eid Al Fitr. This runs from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3 in 2023. On the Gregorian calendar, these dates fall on April 20 to 23.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the year on the Islamic calendar that Muslims all over the world celebrate as a month of fasting, praying, reflecting, and other activities with the community.

Arafat Day

The first day of Eid AL Adha is also called Arafat Day, and it falls on Dhuyl Hijjah 9. In 2023, this will be on June 27, Tuesday.

Eid Al Adha

After Arafat Day, the start of Eid Al Adha is celebrated. It is the second (and the bigger) of the two holidays celebrated by Muslims. The coming year's Eid Al Adha falls on Dhul Hijjah 10 to 12 or June 28 (Wednesday) to 30. Together with Arafat Day, this means an extended five-day weekend.

Eid AL Adha is celebrated to honor Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son after getting instructed so by God through a dream. Prophet Ibrahim informed his son of the dream, and his son told his father that he should heed the order of God. When Prophet Ibrahim was about to perform the sacrifice, God intervened and instead sent a sheep to take the place of Ibrahim's son.

Hijri New Year

Hijri New Year is the mark of the start of a new lunar Hijri year. It falls on Friday, July 21, 2023. This day is also known by many as Islamic New Year.

Prophet Muhammad's Birthday

Al-Mawlid Al-Nabawi will fall on September 29. 2023, Friday.

Commemoration Day and the UAE National Day

Commemoration Day, also called Martyr's Day before, is marked every year on December 1, which will fall on a Friday in 2023. After this is the celebration of the UAE's National Day. As mentioned at the beginning of this post, this is celebrated on December 2 and 3, which in 2023 will be on a Saturday and Sunday. This will be a three-day holiday weekend for those with a two-day weekend.
